Paradigm Companies selected Hartman Design Group to create a unique, yet timeless design, for Parc Meridian, a 505-unit mixed-use community located in Alexandria, Virginia. In the heart of the Carlyle area, the design concept was to create a natural haven in this urban center. Overlooking a pond and garden that is a draw for native wild life, the interior spaces settle into the landscape through the use of neutral textures.
The expansive lobby, with its full height windows, blurs the indoors with the outdoors and the woodsy palette of rich browns, soft gray and spring green invoke serenity and sophistication. Unique, hand-crafted elements, such as tree branch and leaf inspired glass light sculptures are strategically placed to define the many intimate and functional spaces. The lobby is designed to be a social experience for residents and guests. Powered work and communal tables, lounge seating for singles or groups, and rocking chairs overlook the pond to create a compelling environment for work and play.
When it comes to elements of nature, more is more. Throughout the building, residents experience the outdoors in many ways. Custom carpet in the corridors was inspired by aerial views of farmland. With views of the city on one side and an expansive roof deck on the other, the clubroom features reclaimed wood and recycled materials that invoke resort living in this LEED Silver-certified residence.
