Gallery Bethesda II is the newest addition to downtown Bethesda. Just a short 10-minute walk from the Bethesda Metro, Gallery II is modern living at its finest. This luxury high-rise is the sequel to its neighbor, Gallery Bethesda which delivered in 2014.
The long-awaited Gallery II Apartments complements and completes Gallery Bethesda’s pedestrian plaza, furthering the revitalization of Woodmont Triangle as the new downtown Bethesda. Pedestrians and residents enjoy the mid-block connection complete with sculpture, lights, and a variety of neighborhood and community-focused retail that serves the entire Bethesda area. The planning and architectural design helped to guide the new Bethesda Plan, with setbacks, tower separation, creative massing, progressive storm water solutions, and a mid-block pedestrian street between the two phases to break up an existing “superblock” that was previously a collection of low-rise office and retail.
After a hold period of 4 plus years, the second phase of the project restarted. The challenge facing the design team was that after sitting on a shelf for so long, trends had changed as had resident expectations. The building as it was designed was no longer current. To update the building, it was necessary to include the latest amenities and the most current social trends. This goal was met by expanding the amenities by capturing retail space and through creative space planning.
To appeal to today’s renter by choice it was critical that the amenities include places to co-work, hang out, an indoor/outdoor connection and more social spaces. The units were also redesigned to current finish trends. The transformation of the interior spaces and upgrade of finishes succeeded in creating a Class A residential building that is ahead of leasing projection in a competitive market.
The amenities now include a first-level lobby, sitting room, and co-working area, fitness center, pet spa, and package storage. Adjacent to the rooftop deck is a large clubroom with multiple gaming and social spaces. A co-working lounge that doubles as a private dining room is serviced by a catering kitchen. On the roof, a spectacular pool and deck is designed adjacent to a large outdoor social area with firepits, bar seating, grills, pizza ovens, and other nodes for gathering with friends and family.
The completion of Gallery II as a sister building to Gallery I has created a multi-generational sanctuary in this busy urban area.
