Meridian on First, Phase II
Washington, D.C.

Hartman Design Group was the multifamily interior design firm on this project developed by Paradigm Companies. The 15-story, 272 unit apartment community was planned by Architects Collaborative Incorporated.

Located steps away from the Navy Yard-Ballpark Metro Station in Washington D.C.’s bustling Ballpark District, Meridian on First is located in one of the District’s most dynamic, walkable neighborhoods. Focusing on younger renters, HDG’s interior design team created spaces designed to foster social engagement and other private nooks that offer residents intimate spaces for solo work and solitude.

Inspiration for the entire Meridian on First project began with a thorough examination of the area to understand its history, and its evolution.

The common areas are designed to provide a myriad of spaces, including a storefront rideshare lounge with seating so tenants can await their rides. A stairway leads to a mezzanine for co-working, reading and working at one of two shared Apple computer workspaces. Behind the stairwell lies a hospitality cafe and farther alone, the mailroom and maker space with expansive glazing, a large communal table, counter with storage and sink. Around the corner is the state of the art package locker area. The roof deck level features bold colors and expansive views of the historic Navy Yard and beyond, the Capitol too.
