Developed by JBG SMITH, The Bartlett is Arlington’s largest apartment building. At 23 stories tall with 699 apartment homes, this community is designed to be a “city within a city.” From the entry level to the roof deck, residents enjoy 40,000 square feet of amenities (26,000 inside and 14,000 outside). A private resident door from the lobby to Whole Foods on one side and a coffee shop on the other makes it possible for residents to live, socialize, work, and shop without having to leave their apartment community.
The team (JBG SMITH, HDG, Torti Gallas Partners and Studio 39) worked closely to design amenities that would enhance the lives of this Pentagon City multifamily apartment tower, including multiple live-work spaces; a 4000 square foot fitness center; a 3500 square foot conference/business center; a sports bar; and an expansive rooftop club/deck space with the best views in Washington, DC.
Carefully detailed interior architecture; custom light fixtures and whimsical features (such as a column-turned sculpture) make each visual experience memorable. With visual interest at every vista, the result is a sophisticated interior that is also inviting and intimate. Contemporary design blends naturally with vintage and mid-century modern. Stone, steel natural walnut, brick and reclaimed lumber provide texture and richness. The palette chosen is timeless neutrals energized by pops of primary color found in accents and art.
